Impressive Red Matrix Wulfenite from the Famous Red Cloud Mine in Arizona

WULFENITE:
Red Cloud Mine, Silver Mining District, La Paz Co., Arizona, USA. Dimensions: 6.9 x 4.2 x 2.8cm, small cabinet. This is a killer matrix of Wulfenite from the famed Red Cloud Mine in Arizona. A LARGE, gorgeous Wulfenite crystal, another large intergrown companion along with a smaller nearby crystal are front and center on the contrasty piece of matrix of this exceptional specimen. The Wulfenite crystals are well-formed, bright reddish orange, lustrous and translucent; iconic for the Red Cloud. Crystals are the typical modified tabular habit for the locality giving them their added aesthetically unique appearance. The main Wulfenite crystal measures 1.8 x 1.8 x 0.4cm and when examined closely it actually consists of three crystals in subparallel, slightly divergent growth as shown in the photos. The intergrown companion off to the side measures 1.8 x 1.7 x 0.3cm. The small isolated single is 0.75cm across. Several small, isolated Wulfenites are scattered about the piece for extra orange sparkle. The main crystals are in essentially pristine condition and the piece has a sawn "base" but it displays much better in a vertical orientations as shown in the main photo. Very simply, this piece has a dramatic presence. As noted on the label, this piece was mined from the Gem Pocket of 2003. Really good matrix Wulfenites from the Red Cloud Mine are extremely difficult to obtain and you don't see Red Cloud Wulfenites of this size and quality on matrix available. This matrix Wulfenite is representative of some of the best collected from the world's top Wulfenite locality.
