This auction is for one piece of rough sugilite.
Originally mined from Wessels Mine. Wessels mine is a managenese mine in the Kalahari Desert where the best gem quality sugilite comes from. This is a rare mineral and there's only a very limited quantity of gem quality sugilite available.
The weight of this piece is approximately 7.9 grams.
This mineral specimen of sugilite has good color and quality as seen in the photos, taken under indoor lighting with a daylight rated LED bulb. The piece was has a smooth down face and was photographed wet and dry. The sugilite has rich purple color with layers of gel sugilite mixed in with a small amount of manganese host rock. Refer to the photos for color, details, and quality.
As a rough mineral, this piece has an irregular shape, the median length of the piece is about 35mm by 23mm and about 6.8mm, these are not exact measurement, a ball park for approximation (message if you need more information).
